This is a message that helps! Last week, Obama defended the “Black Lives Matters” movement, which has been critical of police following a string of law enforcement confrontations that led to the deaths of unarmed black men.

Our police face death, protecting us, on a daily basis. They deserve our respect.

“Too often, law enforcement gets scapegoated for the broader failures of our society and criminal justice system,” Obama told a gathering of the International Association of Chief of Police in Chicago. “I know that you do your jobs with distinction no matter the challenges you face. That’s part of wearing the badge.”
