The rules used to be pretty clear and they were logical. Men couldn’t use a girls locker room. The man would be arrested. It just wouldn’t work.
Not so much anymore it seems. So we have basic questions with answers we need to agree on.
What is a man? What is a woman?
I used to think I knew. Oddly, I still do.
“Woman” defined as “adult human female; of or denoting the sex that can bear offspring or produce eggs, distinguished biologically by the production of gametes (ova) which can be fertilized by male gametes.”
I took biology, a long time ago. Are they still teaching this? I think so. I hope so.
Early this morning I was reading Rod Dreher’s blog at the American Conservative and stumbled across yet another dispatch from the utterly absurd bathroom wars. One of his New York City readers wrote in to say that her 14-year-old daughter had just finished dressing in a city locker room when a grown man stepped from the showers wearing only a towel. Girls as young as seven were present, and they were staring at the man with “concerned expressions.” The reader ends her e-mail with, “It sucks to be a parent these days.”
